MIER college students participate in walkathon

JAMMU: The students of the Environment Unit, MIER College of Education participated in a walkathon on the theme "Say No to Polythene '' conducted by Jammu Municipal Corporation.

More than 40 students from the college participated in this mission. The students carried placards and banners appealing to the people not to use polythene.

The rally commenced at Parade Ground, proceeded towards Raj Tilak Road, passed through Purani Mandi, Super Bazar and concluded at B. C. Road.

The students actively participated in the event and made bystanders aware of the harmful effects of polythene and plastic. They also provided alternatives for polythene carry bags, such as biodegradable carry bags made of cellulose-starch developed by DRDO.

Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal MIER College of Education, appreciated the participation of the students in the walkathon and creating awareness in the community.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Suman Gupta, Convener Environment Unit, MIER College of Education.
