Kathua Campus, University of Jammu organises a lecture on Constitutional rights and values

KATHUA: In continuation to its drive of organising lectures for the benefit of the students and faculty of the Campus, a lecture on Constitution: Values, Rights, Duties and Obligations was organised at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu on June 01st, 2023.
The resource person, Dr. Vijay Sehgal, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Law, University of Jammu began the lecture by briefing about the role and importance of norms and values in evolving any society.
Emphasising on the formation of a sovereign state under the ambit of the constitution, he stated that sovereignty provides power to the government through the formation of parliament.
Further, he talked about the organs of the state to allocate the functions and rights to the various parts of the state. He concluded the lecture with a detailed discussion on the fundamental rights and duties by giving the theories of French Philosopher Auguste Comte.
Dr. MeenakshiKilam Rector Kathua Campus in her message expressed gratitude to the resource person for the knowledge imparting lecture.
She further assured that more such lectures shall be organised at the Campus that are crucial for the development of understanding towards the rights and duties as a citizen of a sovereign nation.
She also manifested that a responsible and accountable person leads to the emergence of an egalitarian society and impressed upon the value of the constitution as a safeguard of fundamental rights and placing the limit on the authority to exercise the power.
The welcome address was presented by Dr. Vivek Sharma, Academic Coordinator, Kathua Campus University of Jammu.
Amit Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and IT, presented the vote of thanks.
Kamakshi Dhir, Faculty, MBA coordinated the whole event.
The lecture was attended by Dr. Pankaj Khajuria, Dr. Zahin Ansari, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Gaurav Sharma, Ritika Goyal, Avni Sharma, TiharikaNath, Rakshit Khajuria, Rajan and otherfaculty members from UIET, members of administrative staff at Kathua campus along with more than 100 students from MBA, MCA and B.Tech. and BA (English).
