DC Rajouri empowers 35 trained 'Aapda Mitras' with rescue kits

RAJOURI: In a significant step towards strengthening disaster response and preparedness, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today handed over rescue kits to 35 highly skilled and trained 'Aapda Mitras' here in the District Administrative Complex.
The trained volunteers were provided necessary tools to effectively respond to emergency situations and provide timely assistance to the community.
The 'Aapda Mitras', have undergone rigorous training in disaster management and rescue operations and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the lives and property of the residents during times of crisis.
The rescue kits, comprising essential equipment and supplies, including first aid kit, searchlight, ropes, helmets, and communication devices, will enable them to perform their duties more efficiently and effectively.
Deputy Commissioner expressed his appreciation for the dedication and commitment shown by the 'Aapda Mitras' in serving the community. He emphasised the importance of their role in mitigating the impact of disasters and ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents of Rajouri.
The distribution of the rescue kits marks a significant milestone in the district's efforts to enhance disaster response capabilities. It reinforces the administration's commitment to building a resilient community by equipping trained individuals with the necessary resources to act promptly in times of need.
The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged other community members to come forward and participate in similar training programmes to strengthen the district's disaster management framework. He reiterated the importance of community participation and collaborative efforts in effectively addressing emergency situations and minimising the loss of life and property.
The Deputy Commissioner personally presented the kits to the Aapda Mitras, which included essential items such as a personal flotation device, safety gloves, a pocket knife, a first aid kit, a gas lighter, a uniform, GUM boots, safety goggles, safety helmets, and a torch (an emergency light). The Aapda Mitras were also provided with certificates and identity cards during a formal display ceremony.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Imran Kataria, account officer, Rajesh Sharma were present at the function.
