Essay Competition on ‘Illicit Drug Abuse among Youth' held at GDC Kupwara

KUPWARA: An essay competition on illicit drug abuse among youth was today organized by the Innovation and Incubation Cell (IIC), Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), National Service Scheme (NSS) units, and Seminars and Debate Committee of Govt. Degree College (GDC) Kupwara.

The aim of the competition was to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage students to contribute to the discourse on this important issue. The event witnessed active participation from more than 20 students, and three winners were declared based on their essay submissions.

After careful evaluation of the essays, the jury members declared 1st Position to Sabreena Shakeel (5th semester), 2nd Position to Tahmeena Javaid (2nd semester) and 3rd Position to Toiba Masoodi (2nd semester).

The winners were given 1000, 700 and 500 cash prizes and all participants were given participation certificates.

The event was supervised by Principal GDC Kupwara Prof. Mohd Shafi Lone.

The event was coordinated by the faculty members, Coordinator ICC - Dr. Hilal Ahmad Mir; Coordinator IQAC - Prof. Irfan Ali; Programme Officer NSS - Dr. Abdul Rashid Sheikh; Programme Officer NSS, Dr. Shazia Lone; Convener Seminars and Debate Committee, Dr. Ali Mohd Pir; Dr. Naveed Ah (HOD English) (Jury Member); Dr. Mohd Jaffar (HOD Botany) (Jury Member) and Dr. Shazia (Jury Member).

The essay competition provided an opportunity for students to engage with a critical issue affecting society.
