JU organises Extempore Debate Competition

JAMMU: The Department of Law at the University of Jammu has successfully organized the Extempore Debate Competition for LL.B students.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented law students.

The Extempore Debate Competition served as a platform for budding legal minds to showcase their oratory skills, critical thinking abilities, and depth of legal knowledge.

The competition was designed to challenge participants to brainstorm and deliver compelling arguments in response to given topics or questions, without any prior preparation.

Such extempore debates not only enhance public speaking skills but also develop the ability to analyze complex legal issues and present coherent arguments in a limited timeframe.

The participants displayed remarkable expertise in presenting their viewpoints and engaging in thought-provoking exchanges.

The competition witnessed lively discussions on diverse subjects of current, contemporary, and socio-legal relevance. Prof. Satinder Kumar., Dean and Head of the Department of Law, in his welcome address, expressed his delight at the overwhelming response and the high level of participation from the LL.B students.

He emphasized the importance of such events in nurturing well-rounded legal professionals who possess strong communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to thrive in competitive environments.

Ezza Shah got the first position, Priya Sharma got the second position and Dravin Mahajan got the third position.

Aditi Raj Thakur and Anuj Kumar got special merit mentions.

The event was adjudged by Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Director, Centre for Gandhian Studies, and Dr. Mrinalani Atrey of the Law School, University of Jammu. Dr. Navdeep Kour Sassan moderated the event and a vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Sanjay Gupta, The organizing committee included Dr. Raj K Sandhu and students of the LL.B course namely, Sunny Singh Thakur Ketan Kumar, Toiba Andleeb, and Rajeshwar Singh.
