Students of GDC Kathua participate in 2-day Training Programme at SKUAST Jammu

JAMMU: A group of Students of Department of Industrial Fish and Fisheries of Government Degree College Kathua attended a 2-Day capacity building programme organized by SKUAST, Jammu on Aquapreneurship Development in Fish Nutrition and Feed Formulation for Effective Self Employment of Youth.
The workshop was held at Division of Fisheries, SKUAST Jammu which was organized under DST-SEED Project. The main objective of the workshop was to acquaint the students of the Department of Industrial Fish and Fisheries about the fish nutrition and feed preparation to enhance their skills for entrepreneurship development. The workshop was attended by 34 students who were sensitized about the importance of fish nutrition and entrepreneurship development.
The programme was conducted under the patron-ship of Professor Seema Mir, Principal, Government Degree College, Kathua (Boys).
The tour was coordinated by Dr. Jageshwar Dutt, HOD (Industrial Fish and Fisheries) and accompanied by the faculty members, Assistant Prof. Reetika Rani and Dr. Sweta Gupta.
The staff and students were given a warm welcome by Dr. Akhil Gupta, Professor and overall in charge of the training programme, Division of Fisheries, SKUAST, Jammu.
The training included lectures and practical sessions conducted by faculty of SKUAST, Dr. Sahar Masud (Professor and Head of Division of Fisheries), Dr. Prem Kumar (Scientist, KVK Jammu), Dr. Vijay Bharti (Professor, Division of Agronomy and other esteemed scientists of SKUAST.
The training programme was conducted at Central Library, IDP Committee room and Feed preparation complex at SKUAST, Jammu.
At the inaugural ceremony, Dr. S.K. Gupta, Registrar, SKUAST Jammu, Dr. R.K. Samnotra Director research and Dr. B.C. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture of SKUAST Jammu welcomed students and the staff of Govt. Degree College Kathua and deliberated upon various aspects of Aquapreneurship Development in Fish Nutrition and Feed Formulation for Effective Self Employment of Youth and motivated students to implement the teachings of this workshop in their life.
Additionally, a quiz contest was held after the workshop and three students of the College namely Manasvi, Suhail and Mansi bagged first, second and third prize respectively.
After the conclusion of the event, Prof. Seema Mir felicitated the workshop participants and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Industrial Fish and Fisheries in general and Dr. Jageshwar Dutt in particular in making this event a successful one.
She further stated that such programmes have fruitful outcomes which will go a long way in enhancing skills of students and can guide students about alternate career options.
