Orientation program on fire prevention & emergency services held in GDC Vijaypur

SAMBA: Government Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with Fire and Emergency Station, conducted an awareness/orientation programme on fire prevention and emergency services for the faculty and students of GDC Vijaypur under the patronship of worthy Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta.
The program was initiated with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan, Head of Department of Environmental Sciences. She briefed the students regarding the imperativeness of the program to promote safety and reduce the risk of fire-related incidents.
In the first session, Jograj Singh Jasrotia (Incharge, Fire and Emergency Station, Vijaypur) explained to the students regarding types of fires and how various precautionary measures should be adopted during such disasters. He gave various tips on how to prevent fires from starting, such as keeping flammable materials away from heat sources using smoke detectors and being cautious when cooking.
In the second session, mock drill was conducted by the team of personnel of fire station Vijaypur wherein they explicated the varied simple modes of using fire extinguishers in a user friendly manner and other firefighting equipment.
Principal of the College Dr. Vandana Gupta tendered sincerely the endeavour of fire and emergency services.
The students were unveiled from the ignorance of such imperative and cautious need as the hand holding of fire extinguishers and emergency evacuation was simplified to them.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Shittal Sharma (HOD Mathematics). The whole event was coordinated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Prof. Poonam Kundan and co-coordinated by Dr. Bandhana Khajuria, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal and Prof. Sonia Devi.
