JU to organize 3-Day Mega Fest 'Panch Pran'

JAMMU: The University of Jammu in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Hindustan Samachar and Cluster University of Jammu is organizing 3-day mega event on the five resolves (Panch Pran) announced by Prime Minister of India, Narender Modi during his 76th Independence day address to the nation.
In consonance with the vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India on "Panch Pran", Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai addressed the media regarding the mega event which is going to be held w.e.f. 5th - 7th April 2023 in the University of Jammu.
In the curtain raiser ceremony, Prof. Rai, while focusing upon the five resolutions i.e. 1) resolve to move the country ahead as a developed India 2) Erase all traces of Servitude 3) be proud of India's Heritage and Legacy 4) Strength of Unity and Solidarity 5) Duties of citizens towards the nation, said that University of Jammu has already taken initiatives to acquaint the students with the rich heritage of India.
The event will cover the lectures by the prominent experts, showcasing of documentaries and exhibition of cultural heritage. The Panch Pran Utsav will be inaugurated by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ajay Kumar Singh, Press Secretary to President of India will deliver the Keynote Address on 5th April, 2023.
Prof. Rai was joined by Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar, Prof. Prakash Antahal, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Satnam Kour, Convenor, Press and Publicity Committee, Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and Brajesh Jha, Executive Editor, Hindustan Samachar during the event.
Further, Prof. Rai stressed upon the paradigm shift from job seeker to job provider model being adopted by the University as well as the launch of first of its kind of innovate program "Design your Degree" for undergraduate students which will give them complete academic freedom to design their degree, keeping in mind their interests and inclinations.
Among the initiatives already undertaken by the University some important policies include MOUs with IIT Roorkee, iHub Divyasampark, High Altitude Warfare School-India Army. The University has also formulated some policies for achieving the goals of NEP like establishment of National Innovation and Start Up, Consultancy, Intellectual Property Rights Policies.
New job oriented academic programmes are introduced recently by the university to further strengthen the research, financial assistance in the form of research grants and Seed grant is also provided to the faculty in the university.
Working on pledge "Dissolving Boundaries Evolving Education" taken on the foundation day, the university has worked out the possibilities of inclusion of credits for the students from NCC, Sports, NSS and cultural activities.
Students now can pursue two academic programmes simultaneously said Prof. Rai. University has also established a centre for Gandhian Studies for Peace and Conflict Studies which shall promote experiential learning and shall include workshops and internships. A smart ashram is also being envisaged on Gandhi philosophy.
