Conference held at GDC Ramgarh to commemorate India’s G20 Presidency

SAMBA: To commemorate India's G20 Presidency in 2023, Government Degree College Ramgarh, in collaboration with prestigious The Indian Science Congress Association, organized national conference on "Science and Technology in Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment" (Multi- Disciplinary).
In her welcome address, Dr Satinder Kaur, Principal, GDC Ramgarh, highlighted the importance of sustainable development with women empowerment. She emphasized the role of the Science and Technology to understand and navigate relationships among social, environmental and economic development and the contribution of women in particular.
Prof J S Tara, Convener, ISCA, Jammu Chapter, gave a detailed introduction about ISCA, its memberships and objectives. He also told the gathering about various Fellowships and travelling grants that the Association provides to the young researchers.
Dr Ritu Singh, guest of honour of the conference, said that economic empowerment allows women to control and benefit from resources, assets, and income. It also aids the ability to manage risk and improve women's well-being, she added.
Benam Tosh, SSP Samba, said that Police Department has been playing an active role in eradicating the crime against women thus helping women empowerment.
Dr Ranvijay Singh, Dean, Cluster University of Jammu, said that such conferences are a big source of knowledge sharing and associations like ISCA provide a great platform for young researchers to come up with innovative ideas that can contribute towards sustainable development.
Neetu Bali, special guest speaker, spoke about the role of women in entrepreneurship, small and medium businesses and encouraged the women to come forward for being self-reliant and financially independent.
The keynote speaker of the day, Dr Shweta Yadav, gave a detailed representation regarding how to fill gender gaps pertaining to STEM. She elaborated that in the modern times, women are expected to participate at par with men in all the fields.
Prof Naresh Padha, chief guest of the day, highlighted the role and importance of NEP-2020 in the overall development of women. He said that new curriculum focuses on value added, multidisciplinary and skill enhancement courses for women entrepreneurship and employment.
The first technical session was chaired by Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal GDC Jourian and the second technical session was chaired by Prof Neeru Dhalla, Associate Professor, GDC Akhnoor.
The vote of thanks for different sessions was presented by Dr Aditi Khajuria, Convener IQAC and Prof Seema Sharma.
