GCW Gandhinagar hosts session on transgender issues

JAMMU: An interactive session on the topic-"Transgender Issues and Concerns" was organised today at the Padma Shri Padma Sachdev, Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar.

The programme was held under the patronage of Principal of the college, Prof Minu Mahajan.

The speaker on the occasion was Prof Aijaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Social Work, GDC Pulwama. The welcome address was given by Prof Harmeet Singh. Prof Minu Mahajan highlighted the need to discuss issues related to transgender community in public forums to create awareness and reduce stigma towards them.

The event was organised under the guidance of Convenor IQAC Prof Yashpal Sharma and was coordinated by Dr Pooja Charak, Prof Paramjeet Singh, Dr Harmeet Singh, Dr Vandana Sharma, Prof Eisha Gohil, Dr Ujjwal Sharma, Dr Syed Shehna, Dr Suraj Mohani and Prof Sunita Devi.

The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Sunita Devi.
