One Week Online FDP on 'Machine Learning: Concepts and Applications' concludes at Kathua Campus, JU

JAMMU: A weeklong online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Machine Learning Fundamentals" concluded today at Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.

The key objective of the FDP was to impart in-depth knowledge and hands-on practice in the area of Machine Learning.

The FDP received huge participation in pan India and abroad. Expert lectures were delivered by eminent resource persons belonging to reputed institutions in the area of Machine Learning.

The FDP was organized under the patronage of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.

Dr. Kilam exhorted the faculty to adopt the latest means and methods to promote research and impart world class quality education to the students.

She added that the primary aim of the FDP was to introduce the relevance of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in a wide range of academic and real-life problems.

She concluded by suggesting the participants to utilize the FDP learning in their research work and assured that more endeavours of organizing such research-oriented programmes shall continue in future too for the welfare of faculty members, research scholars and students.

The valedictory address was given by Professor R. S. Salaria, Dean, University Institute of Computer Science and Applications, Guru Nanak University, Telangana. Prof. Salaria is an outstanding academician, prolific author, motivator and social reformer and has more than 25 books as an author which are recommended in the curriculum of various universities and colleges.

He highlighted the importance of such academic oriented programmes for exchanging various research ideas on current topics.

He discussed his 5H model of Holistic Education including Head (Knowledge), Heart (Attitude), Hand (Skill), Health (Physical and Mental Health), and Harmony (Co-existence). Further, he congratulated the organizers for organizing this FDP on a very exciting theme and also assured his support for these types of academic activities in future too.

Dr. Milind Singh, Head, CCS University, Meerut was the keynote speaker during the valedictory ceremony of the FDP. Dr. Singh said that these types of events are the need of the hour to refresh the knowledge in the domain area.

He further said Kathua Campus, University of Jammu is doing the great job of involving academicians and researchers from all over India to strengthen the inter-institutional tie-ups.

Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Organizing Secretary of the FDP and Incharge Head, MCA Department, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu presented the FDP report and apprised that 11 technical sessions including hands-on were conducted on Machine Learning during the said FDP along with 1 non-technical session on Lifelong Learning and Social Intelligence. He attributed the event's great success to the organising team's cooperation.

The various resource persons including Dr. Meenu Gupta (Chandigarh University, Punjab), Ms. Surbhi Vijh (Amity University, Noida), Dr.NilgunSenguz (Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, Turkey), Prof. Kiran SreePokkuluri (Shri Vishnu Engineering College, Andhra Pradesh), Dr. Nishant Jain (Jaypee University of Information Technology, Himachal Pradesh), Prof. Ram Bilas Pachori (IIT, Indore), Dr. Arjit Roy (IIIT, Sri City), Bishwa Ranjan (Aryan Institute of Engineering & Technology, Odisha), Prof. Parteek Bhatia (Whitman College Walla Walla, Wahington, USA), Dr. Aditi Sharma (Parul University, Gujarat), Disha Sharma (Scoopin, Chandigarh), and Dr. Ajay Gadicha (Amravati University, Maharashtra) highlighted the various aspects related to Machine Learning and its applications during the FDP.

Dr. Sunny Sharma, Coordinator of the FDP presented a vote of thanks and Mr. Pranav Ratta coordinated the whole programme. Mr. Amit Sharma, Ms. Ritika Goyal and other faculty members of the Campus were also present. The participants and organizing team also shared their views during the valedictory ceremony of the FDP.
