Mesmerizing Duggar Musical Evening organised under 'Utsaah' - The Clubs, JU

JAMMU: Music Club & Dance Club under the umbrella of Utsaah-The Clubs, University of Jammu in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts (IGNCA) Regional branch Jammu organised Duggar Musical evening in which the students and employees from different Departments and Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu performed in Dogri singing, Dogri Dance & innovative Duggar Band under the aegis of Duggar Darpan.

At the outset, Dr. Priya Dutta, Coordinator Dance club on behalf of the students, faculty, members of civil society & artists of different fields thanked Vice-Chancellor for his initiative in setting up of an Open-air Arena where such type of activities could be organised.

The mesmerizing musical evening was attended by world-renowned Dogri Singer Smt. Seema Anil Seghal as the Chief Guest, Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu was Special Guest, while many Senior Academicians and Officers graced the occasion.

Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu presided over the event.

The Chief Guest Smt. Seema Anil Sehgal appreciated the efforts of the Dance & Music Club, University of Jammu for showcasing of Duggar culture through Dance & singing by students. She further said that such types of activities help us to connect with our roots & one can connect to our own culture.

Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu in his remarks said that this is the need of the hour to promote & preserve our culture by organising such types of events involving local artists & renowned personalities of the field to provide new heights to our culture.

He further said that these activities should be a regular feature of the University & region as well.

He appreciated Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Coordinator Music club & Dr. Priya Dutta Coordinator Dance club for organising such a great event in which not only the students from IMFA but employees & students from various Departments of the University also participated and exhibited their talent.

Earlier Prof. Satnam Kour, Convener, UTSAAH in her welcome address expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries for gracing the occasion by their presence.

The students from various departments of the University including IMFA showcased the rich culture of Jammu through Dance & Music.

In the event, Dogri Dance was presented by Ritika, Sunidhi Banerjee, Sonia, Manu, Preeti, Anjuman, Anshika, Ayushi, Sabha, Priyanka, Sunidhi, Akshay, Umesh, Shivam and Ajay, Dance was choreographed by Ankush Padha student of Kathak Dance Department, University of Jammu under the supervision of Dr. Priya Dutta, Coordinator Dance Club.

Different Dogri tunes were played on sitar by Shivangi and Prince Bhatti student and alumni of Sitar Department, IMFA University of Jammu and they were accompanied by Prakash Bhatti on Tabla, presentation was prepared under the supervision of Ms. Bindu Sharma Instructor Sitar.

Dogri songs were presented by Vidhita Jamwal, Simran Sharma, Divya Bharti, Avleen Kour, Dheeraj Kumar, Meetika & Deepak Kumar, students of University of Jammu, whereas Suraj Sharma employee of EVS Department & Suresh Sharma employee of RR Section, University of Jammu also took part in Dogri singing.

All the singers were accompanied by Andrew on synth, Dheeraj on Harmonium, Aryan on Tabla. This whole singing event was supervised by Dr. Jasmeet Kour Assistant Instructor Vocal.

Based on Melodies & beats of Dogra region, Duggar band was performed by the students of Tabla Department IMFA, University of Jammu. The item was prepared under the direction of faculty members, Rajesh Kumar, HOD Tabla, Vijay Kumar, Assistant Instructor & Dr. Akashman, Teaching Assistant IMFA. Duggar band was headed by Aryan Verma, student of Tabla department alongwith Keshav Sharma, Munish, Akshay, Vikas, Chandan, Ajay, Jatin & Chandandari Kesar Assistant Instructor Violin.

The program was anchored by Radio Sakhi Madhavi Sharma.

The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Coordinator Music club who acknowledged the contribution of everyone in particular the Department of Students Welfare, Department of Arboriculture & Landscaping, Sanitation Wing of the University and the Print and electronic Media as well for the successful organisation of the event.
