DSRS, JU organises Talk on 'Research and Publication Ethics in International Relations'

JAMMU: The Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS), University of Jammu has organized a talk on 'Research and Publication Ethics in International Relations' in the seminar hall of the Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS).
The talk was delivered by Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar, to the Research Scholars and the students of master's programme of the department.
Prof. Virender Koundal, Director DSRS, formally welcome the Chief Guest, Prof. Rajesh Kumar, and other dignitaries and introduced the theme of the lecture and invited Prof. Rajesh Kumar to deliver the talk.
Prof Rajesh Kumar introduced the concept of ethics and gave a detailed account of ethics related to the conduct of research in International Relations and National Security Studies. The focus of his talk was on different types and methods to avoid conflict of interest and suggested to give due respect to copyright norms.
He also stressed that the research scalars should focus on originality and objectivity in research. Prof. Rajesh also reminded students that they should make use of open-access initiatives provided by India and abroad institutions.
In the second half of the lecture, Prof Rajesh focused on publication misconduct and authorship issues in detail.
In this respect, he provided a detailed outline of unethical authorship practices.
Prof Rajesh, in addition to this, concluded his lecture by focusing on how to calculate h-index and journal impact factor and how contemporary academicians and research scholars need to focus in this direction for wider impact locally, nationally, and globally.
After this, Director DSRS, Prof. Virender Koundal gave his concluding remarks on the topic.
This program was also attended by the Department faculty Dr. Mohammad Monir Alam, Dr. Suneel Kumar, Dr. Surinder Mohan, research scholars and PG students of the department.
