Workshop on Rajbhasha Hindi challenges and solutions held at NIT Srinagar

Various efforts are being taken to implement the Rajbhasha on the campus: Director NIT Srinagar

SRINAGAR: A daylong workshop on 'Rajbhasha Hindi Challenges and Solutions' was organized by Rajbhasha Cell on Thursday at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

The event was presided over by Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal and Institute's Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari was 'Guest of Honor' on the occasion. Dr. Sakina Akhter, Hindi Adhikari, Central University of Kashmir was resource person for the workshop.

In his presidential address, Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal said various efforts are being taken to implement the Rajbhasha on the campus and a lot of work has been done in this regard.

"In 2022, we attended the Parliament Committee Meeting in Jammu, where we were directed to work more dedicatedly towards implementation. After that, we held a meeting, it was decided that more efforts are needed for Rajbhasha implementation and promotion," he said.

"The percentage of bilingual orders has increased from 0.5 to 40 per cent from the last year,"

Prof. Sehgal said that administrative staff of the NIT Srinagar is conducting various courses in Hindi language, so that use of Rajbhasha will be improved on the campus.

He said it is a proud moment that all departments have started the process to implement Rajbhasha. We have recently added some Hindi books to the library so that students will get benefitted by such initiatives," he said.

Institute's Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said various efforts are being taken to implement the Rajbhasha at NIT Srinagar and over the past two years, communication with the Ministry has improved in a larger way.

"The important circulars and orders from the Institute are issued in bilingual mode so that Rajbhasha implementation target is achieved," he said, adding that recently Junior Assistant from NIT Srinagar also interacted with honorable PM Narendra Modi in a Hindi language.

"We have achieved a lot and more will be achieved in future also," he said.

Prof. Bukhari appreciated efforts of Dr. RP Shukla, Dr. Sabzar Ahmad and his entire Rajbhasha Cell for organizing the workshop on the relevant theme and stated that NIT administration will continue to provide support to such programs.

On the occasion, Hindi Adhikari CUK, Dr. Sakina Akhter said that one has understood that Rajbhasha is totally different from the Hindi language. Rajbhasha is the language used in official work, while to understand history and literature one has to learn Hindi language, she said.

"Now the Government has framed a policy that we should use simple words in Rajbhasha Hindi, so that common people can understand it easily,' Dr. Sakina said.

She also highlighted rules and regulations of the Official language act. We need more efforts for its implementation and the main aim of organizing such events is to raise awareness regarding the official language, Dr. Sakina said.

Dr. Sakina urged participants to learn, and understand more languages and stated that we should not be biased with any language. She also held technical sessions with the participants and cleared their various doubts regarding the Official language.

Apart from participants, the workshop was attended by Faisal Irshad, Deputy Registrar (Admin), Nazia Nazir, Deputy Registrar (Acctts), Mubashir Ahmad Wani, Asstt. Registrar (Audit), Shahid Hamid Najar, Asstt. Registrar (Accounts), Mohammad Iqbal Dar, Assistant Registrar (Admin) Mohammad Hazik, Asstt. Registrar (S&P |Legal).

Faculty coordinators of Rajbhasha Cell including Dr. Amandeep Singh, Dr. Neeraj Gupta, Dr. Brajesh Kumar, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Dr. Brajendra Singh Sengar, Dr. Prvan Kumar, Dr. Atendra Kumar, Dr. Jitendra Gurjar, Dr. Ravi Kumar and Er. Junaid Ul Islam were also present on the occasion.

In his inaugural address, Hindi Officer Dr. R P Shukla (Assistant Professor, Civil Engg) said the Rajbhasha cell of NIT Srinagar is working day and night to implement official language on the campus.

Dr. R P Shukla also expressed gratitude to Hindi Adhikari CUK, Dr. Sakina Akhter for hosting the technical sessions during the workshop.

He also appreciated efforts of faculty coordinators including for their hard work in making the mega event successful.

Hindi Translator NIT Srinagar, Dr. Sabzar Ahmad Batoo presented a formal vote of thanks to Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. Sehgal, Registrar Prof. Bukhari and Hindi Adhikari CUK, Dr. Sakina for their unconditional support in making the workshop a grand success.

Dr. Sabzar said that Hindi is among the world's oldest languages and we should not underestimate its rich literature. The language is binding people together and we should learn as many languages and their literature," he said.
