GDC Marheen celebrates International Women's Day

KATHUA: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College Marheen celebrated International Women's Day on the college premises.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp, followed by a recitation of Saraswati Vandana by NSS volunteers, under the patronage of the college's Principal, Prof (Dr) Anupama Gupta.

The Principal spoke about this year's theme, "DigitALL: Innovation & Technology for Gender Equality," highlighting the contribution of women to the digital world while also raising awareness about the challenges they face in achieving gender equality. Dr Yash Paul Sharma also spoke about the importance of technology for improving the status of women in society.

The program was supervised by Programme Officer Dr Sonika Jasrotia and other faculty members present were Mr. Pardeep, Prof Deepak Gupta, Dr Munisha Devi, Prof Shobhana and Prof Charan.

A documentary movie on the theme "Reach for the Stars" based on the life of Kalpana Chawla, an Indian-American astronaut, was shown in the college's browsing center. Student volunteers also participated in the program by reciting poetry and presenting on the lives and visions of women.
