JU organises one day workshop on 'Understanding the Making of Documentary'

JAMMU: A one day workshop was organized by the Film Club, University of Jammu on "Understanding the Making of Documentary". The resource person for the workshop was Shri Brajesh Kumar Jha, Executive Editor of Hindustan Samachar New Agency and Editor, Navotthan Magazine.
The guest of honour was Shruti Awasthi, the Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA).
Chairperson of the Club Cluster, Prof. Satnam Kaur presided over the workshop Dr. Sadaf Shah, Coordinator of Literary Club and Dr. Chinmoyee, Coordinator of Science Club were also present in the workshop.
At the outset, the Coordinator Film Club, Prof. Suman Jamwal welcomed the guest. Thereafter, she delineated the major aims and objectives of the Club.
The Club would serve as a platform for students to explore the world of cinema as an educational, cultural and artistic expression.
She also pointed out the major aim of the workshop which is to provide students, the basic understanding of how films and documentaries are made.
The resource person for the day highlighted the various aspects related to filming of a documentary. He suggested many ways in which the local heritage and culture can be mapped through the documentary.
He also stressed on the importance of the quality of audio visual medium in the making of a documentary.
The presentation was followed by an interactive session, where the queries pertaining to the making of documentaries were responded to by the resource person.
Shruti Awasthi also shared her experience on the techniques involved in giving the shape to a documentary.
Vote of thanks was offered by Suchitra Singh Jamwal.
The workshop was attended by the faculty members, scholars and students of the University of Jammu.
