Day 4 of Antarnaad at JU: Literary, musical, fine arts events held

JAMMU: The University of Jammu's 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival, ANTARNAAD, organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), entered its fourth day on Friday with a wide range of literary, musical, and fine arts competitions. The day's highlights included a quiz competition, Folk Dance, Group Indian Song, Clay Modelling, installation, and collage making.

The powerful performances by the participating students in Folk Dance and Skit left the audience spellbound. S D Jamwal (ADGP Security) was the chief guest for the Folk Dance where as Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mushtaq Kak was the chief guest for the Skit competition.

Ten different universities performed skits on different themes like ‘Swachhta', ‘Importance of Father', ‘Craze to settle Abroad', ‘Auditions', ‘Never underestimate teachers' and so on.

13 universities took part in Folk Dance event. These included Punjabi University, Patiala; Chandigarh University, Mohali; DAV University, Jalandhar; Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda; Doon University in Uttrakhand, Doon Sanskrit University in Haridwar; Lovely Professional University, Jhalander, Cluster University of Jammu; Kashmir University; GNDU, Amritsar and I K Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala.

In the quiz competition 17 universities participated and six teams advanced to the competition's final round. A K Chowdhary (Special DGP Crime, J&K) attended the function as the chief guest. In Group Song Indian, a total of 12 Universities took part.

Social Sciences Block witnessed a wide range of Fine Arts activities where a total of 13 universities participated in different events such as Clay Modeling, Installation, and Collage Making. Clay Modeling and Installation were based on the theme "Growth of India" (Vishwa Guru). The University's ground hosted these competitions and contestants created some colourful and striking models.

Meanwhile, in Collage Making, students displayed their skills on the theme, "Portrait and Landscape". The contestant demonstrated their talent through a visual depiction made from old magazines.

Among the competing teams were: University of Jammu, Dev Sanskriti Vishavidhalya Haridwar Uttarakhand, GADVASU-Ludhiana, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-J), Doon University Uttarakhand, University of Kashmir, Cluster University of Jammu, Punjabi University Patiala, CT University Ludhiana, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Kapurthala, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, GNDU Amritsar, Lovely Professional University, Chandigarh University, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University Bathinda and DAV Jalandhar.
