Skit, Folk Dance, Group Song Indian, Clay Modeling, Installation, Collage and Quiz competition captivates audience on Day 4 of Antarnaad

JAMMU: The University of Jammu's 36th Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival, ANTARNAAD, organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), entered its fourth day on Friday with a wide range of literary, musical, and fine arts competitions.

The day's highlights included a quiz competition, folk dance, group Indian song, clay modelling, installation, and collage making.

The powerful performances by the participating students in Folk Dance and Skit, at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, left the audience spellbound. Shri S.D. Jamwal, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP, Security) J&K was the Chief Guest for the Folk Dance where as Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mushtaq Kak was the Chief Guest for the Skit competition.

It is pertinent to mention that in the competition, 10 different universities performed skits on different themes like ‘Swachhta', ‘Importance of Father', ‘Craze to settle Abroad', ‘Auditions', ‘Never underestimate teachers' and so on.

Folk Dance was another event that took place at the same venue, and the power pact performances caused the crowd to get up and dance. 13 universities in all took part in this event, where Punjabi University, Patiala, and Chandigarh University, Mohali, performed "Lok Nach Bhangra," which reflected the perspectives of Punjab.

DAV University, Jalandhar was next in line, then Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University, Bathinda.

Both gave performances of "Luddi," with the latter focusing on female performers. Doon University in Uttrakhand put on a performance based on the local folk song "Katha of Nanda Devi."

The next presentation featured the tribal dancing style "Rajasthani Chirmi" from Punjab University, Chandigarh. Doon Sanskrit University in Haridwar presented the "Gharwali dance," which was followed by the "Divli Nritya" show by Lovely Professional University, Jhalander and the "Dogri culture of Jammu" by Cluster University in Jammu.

The next performance was by Kashmir University, who incorporated Kashmiri culture into their dance through the performance of "Rouf," followed by "Jhumar" by GNDU, Amritsar and "Bhangra" by I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala. A quiz competition at The Business School, kept the audience seated while participants from 17 universities gave it their all. The preliminary round began at 10 am, while the final round began at 12:30 pm.

Only six teams advanced to the competition's final round after each team had 45 minutes to respond to the questions. IPS A.K. Chowdhary attended the function as the chief guest (special DGP crime, J&K).

Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium, the festival's third location, had soulful performances by Group Song Indian. A total of 12 Universities took part in this competition. "Patriotic and folk" was the event's theme.

Social Sciences Block witnessed a wide range of Fine Arts activities where a total of 13 universities participated in different events such as Clay Modeling, Installation, and Collage Making. Clay Modeling and Installation were based on the theme "Growth of India" (Vishwa Guru).

The University's ground hosted these competitions and contestants created some colourful and striking models. Meanwhile, in Collage Making, students displayed their skills on the theme, "Portrait and Landscape".

The contestant demonstrated their talent through a visual depiction made from old magazines.

Among the competing teams were: University of Jammu, Dev Sanskriti Vishavidhalya Haridwar Uttarakhand, GADVASU-Ludhiana, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-J), Doon University Uttarakhand, University of Kashmir, Cluster University of Jammu, Punjabi University Patiala, CT University Ludhiana, IK Gujral Punjab Technical University Kapurthala, Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, GNDU Amritsar, Lovely Professional University, Chandigarh University, Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University Bathinda and DAV Jalandhar.
