DGP reviews status of CCTV Surveillance System Project

JAMMU: The Director General of Police, Dilbag Singh on Monday reviewed the status of the UT wide CCTV Surveillance System Project.
As per a statement, ADGP Armed, SJM Gillani; ADGP Headquarters PHQ, MK Sinha; IGP Headquarters PHQ, BS Tuti, DIG DKR Range Sunil Gupta, DIG UR Range Suleman Choudhary among other officers of the PHQ attended the meeting called by the DGP to review the status of the project.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP said that the aim of the implementation of CCTV surveillance system across J&K is to provide a safe and secure environment to the people and visitors of the UT.
He said the system would help in instilling confidence among the citizens of being ensured.
"By this system, we will keep an eye on the ground and it will help in curbing the crime rate in the UT. Besides, it will be useful in identification and nabbing of anti-national elements and criminals with alerts generated by the system once commissioned," he said.
"When completed, it should be a state-of-the-art facility and the futuristic plans should also be kept in mind. The number of the CCTV cameras should also rise gradually as per the needs," directed the DGP, Dilbag Singh.
The top cop also stressed on the quality of equipment and logistics to be used for the project.
He impressed upon the officers to take all the necessary measures for completing the project in time by meeting the deadlines.
"Complete the project in a stipulated time frame," the DGP further directed the officers concerned in the meeting.
He also directed the ADGP Armed to take regular meetings of the task force to monitor the implementation of the project closely.
Earlier, the ADGP Armed, SJM Gillani briefed the DGP about various measures taken for the implementation of the project work.
