JAMMU: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu today organized a series of events to celebrate "National Youth Day 2023" and to commemorate 160th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The events were held under the patronage of college Principal Prof. (Dr) Sameru Sharma. In her message she said that National Youth Day is celebrated every year to mark the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda's life and teachings have encouraged millions across the world. A true Karma Yogi, he had full faith in the youth of this country. He had a very strong belief that youth can transform the fate of India through their hard work, dedication and spiritual power.
The first event was a declamation competition on the theme "Role of Youth in Nation Building" in which scores of students participated and represented how youth's contribution is important for nation and society. The other event was a digital poster making competition on the theme "Vikasit Yuva, Vikasit Bharat".
The students from all the semesters participated in the event with great enthusiasm and zeal. They beautifully presented their idea on the theme "Vikasit Yuva, Vikasit Bharat" through their posters.
The events were organized by NSS volunteers Sunidhi, Vishwas, Rakshant, Ishmeet and Usman under the guidance of NSS P.O. Dr. Raman Gupta. He also said that Swami Vivekananda had believed that anything which makes us spiritually, physically or mentally weak should be rejected like poison. He always inspired the youth to have a confident attitude because people are always fearful of the challenges presented by life when they don't have confidence in themselves.
The staff members present during the event were Dr. Heera Saini, Prof. Altaf Ahmad, Mr. Balbir Singh and Er. Atit Sharma.
