Kathua Campus, JU celebrates maiden Vijay Diwas

KATHUA: To pay tribute to our Army, veterans and martyrs and to strengthen the bond between Indian Army and youth, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu celebrated maiden Vijay Diwas in collaboration with Fitistan - Ek Fit Bharat on Friday.
More than 150 students from MCA, MBA, UIET and English departments of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu participated in the said event.
The programme started with Vijay Run/Walk/Cycling from Railway Crossing, Janglote and culminated at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu with the National Anthem. The students also performed various patriotic activities including group song and dance, presentation, poem recitation and a play.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Captain of Vijay Run 2022 and Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu flagged off Vijay Run 2022 expedition and emphasised on the aim of celebrating Vijay Diwas i.e. to pay honour to our gallant soldiers for making ultimate sacrifice in the line of their duty to serve the Nation.
Dr. Kilam further said we feel ourselves as a part of the Indian Army as Kathua Campus, University of Jammu is surrounded by Indian Army. She reiterated that Kathua Campus is always ready to walk hand in hand with the Indian Army for societal development in general and for the welfare of youth in particular. She further said such events will go a long way for ensuring health, wellness and fitness of the youth which in turn will help them to contribute in nation building.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Ambassador of Vijay Run 2022 and Incharge Head, Computer Science, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu welcomed the participants and said the Kathua Campus, University of Jammu picked up the pace under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.
Avtar Singh, Retired Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) delivered an invited talk on the sacrifices of soldiers and also shared his own experiences with the participants.
Sheetal Bhat (MCA) and Ritik Gupta (UIET) coordinated the whole programme. Rahul Sharma (MCA) gave a detailed talk on the 1971 war whereas Amit Kumar (MCA) recited a poem on Veer Jawan. Nishant Manhas (UIET) gave a detailed presentation on the Battle of Basantar 1971.
Pranav Ratta delivered a vote of thanks. Dr. Vivek Sharma (Academic Coordinator), Gaurav Sharma, Ritika Goyal, Dr. Sunny Sharma, Dr. Zahin Ansari, Avni Sharma, Tiharika Nath, Kamakshi, Dr. Seema Jamwal, Sandeep Raj, Dr. Shivani Sharma, Komal Khadotra,. Ritika Gupta,. Sushant Gagal, Vishavjeet Singh, Amarjeet Chopra, Ruby Mahajan, Archana Salaria, Himani Khajuria, Ritu Sharma and other faculty members of Kathua Campus were also present during the programme.
