Workshop on Learning Management System starts at JU

JAMMU: A two-day hand on training workshop on Learning Management System was organized by the Learning Management System team of Jammu University in collaboration with the Centre for IT ES&M and Office of the Dean of Academic Affairs, University of Jammu.

It was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Prof.Umesh Rai in the Centre for IT ES&M.

About 40 teachers from various departments of the University joined the workshop and interacted with the resource person, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Assistant Professor, Bhaderwah Campus of The University of Jammu, Jammu.

Speaking on occasion Prof. Rai said that Learning Management System (LMS) is the need of the hour, especially for remote teaching learning and record keeping.

Such initiatives are helpful for both the teacher and student community. Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof.Naresh Padha also deliberated on the role of LMS in Academics.

Earlier, Prof. Namrata Sharma welcomed all the participants of the workshop and deliberated upon the long-waiting inception of the Learning Management System at the University of Jammu.

The concept of online learning or eLearning began in the early 20th century through the use of audio-video communication for remote or distance learning, she said.

The COVID pandemic proved the efficiency of this form of learning. Er. Anik Gupta, Director, Center of IT, Prof.Kuldeep Charak, Dr. Suresh Rao and Dr. Ginny Dogra were also present on the occasion.

The proceeding was conducted by Dr.Hema Gandotra and a vote of thanks was extended by Prof. Sarika Manhas.
