Mukesh Singh flags off 3rd Kathua Half Marathon

KATHUA: Under the Civic Action Programme and overall supervision of SSP Kathua R C Kotwal, Kathua Police organized "3rd Kathua Half Marathon" in Jammu and Kashmir with a strong message of "Run for Health; Stay Away from Drugs".

It evoked an overwhelming response from the people of all walks of life. More than 5000 participants from all walks of the life lined up at Sports Stadium Kathua in early morning.The run was flagged off by Mukesh Singh, ADGP, Jammu Zone, Jammu

It was the 3rd edition of the "Kathua Half Marathon" organized by District Police which was based on International Standards as RFID Chips, sensors and surveillance drones were used to track the runners.

In all, there were five categories i.e. 21.1 Kms (Males above 21 Yrs.), 10 Kms(Males 21-45 Yrs.), 10 Kms. (Females above 21 Yrs),10 Kms.(Males 45-60yrs), 10 Km. 10 Km(Males above 60 Yrs.) for visual competitive and 05 Kms for non-competitive (Run for Fun).

After the completion of the event, an impressive prize distribution function was also held at District Sports Stadium Kathua.The presentation ceremony was also attended by the Vivek Gupta, DIG JSK Range, Rtd. Col. Mahan Singh-Chairman DDC Kathua, Raghunandan Singh, Vice Chairman DDC Kathua along with other police officers and dignitaries.

The winners of different events were honoured with cash prizes and medals by DIG JSK Range and other officers in which Goru 1st in 3rd Kathua Half Marathon 21.1 Kms (Males above 21 Yrs.) was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 15,000, Ravi Dass got 2nd position and was presented a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 while Suresh Kumar got 3rd position was presented a cash prize of Rs. 5,000.

While Pankaj 1st in 10 km (Males 21-45 Yrs.) category was presented with the cash prize of Rs. 7,000 Hans Raj got 2nd prize with cash of Rs. 5,000, Shama Masih got 3rd prize with cash of Rs. 3,000 and Mamta Sharma Ist in 10 Km (females above 21 Yrs.) category was presented with cash prize of Rs. 7000, Anjali got 2nd prize with cash of Rs. 5,000, Bandu Devi got 3rd prize with cash of Rs. 3000, Ram Raj 1st in 10 km (Males 45Yrs - 60 Yrs.) category was presented with the cash prize of Rs.7,000.

Mangat Ram got 2nd prize with cash prize of Rs. 5,000, Makhan Lal got 3rd position with cash prize of Rs. 3,000 whereas Rishi Kumar Ist in (Males above 60 Yrs.) Category was presented with cash prize of Rs.7000.

Anil Katoch got 2nd Prize with cash amount of Rs. 5000 & Satpal Kalsi got third position with cash prize of Rs. 3000.

In addition, medals were also distributed among participants (Men / Women) who completed 21.1 Kms and 10 Kms category.
