Shri Ram Universal School Jammu organised regional group song competition

JAMMU: The Shri Ram Universal School, Jammu organised Inter School Group Song Competition, Bharat Ke Rang - Lok Geeton Ke Sang, under the aegis of Sahodaya Schools Complex Jammu.
The event was organised to offer a platform to the budding talent to showcase their skills in the field of music. The theme of the event was "Regional Folk Song".
Thirty one (31) schools of repute of Jammu region dressed in colourful attires participated in the competition with great zeal and enthusiasm. The programme started with the lighting of lamp and the auditorium reverberated with the echoes of chants of Gayatri Mantra followed by a scintillating performance of Saraswati Vandana by the students of the school.
Baldev Singh Baloria, Deputy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Guest of Honour for the event was Sanjeev Gupta, Chairman TSUS Jammu.
The other prominent guests included Rajesh Rathore, President Jammu Sahodya Schools Complex, Dr KCS Mehta, Principal IDPS Akhnoor & former President of JSSC, Sanjeev Pradhan, Principal APS Samba and Rohini Aima, Principal Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu.
The panel of jury included eminent experts in the field of music like Suraj Singh, HOD (IMFA, Vocals), Sunil Raina, HOD (IMFA, Violin) and Bahadur Singh HOD (IMFA, Sitar, Retd). The experts observed the performance of each group with utmost precision to avert the remotest chance of any goof up. The choirs from the participating schools mesmerized the audience with their melodious voice and gave out their best to figure on top of the points' table and be able to share the victory podium.
Shivani Vaid Sharma, Headmistress of the school gave the brief introduction and welcomed the Chief Guest, other dignitaries and the jury members.
The guests were honoured and presented School Memento by Rajni Gupta, Director and Col VK Sharma (Retd), Principal of the school. In his address to the gathering, the Principal stressed on the need to re-establish the lost connection with our roots and the language and reinforce the same by organising more such events.
Doon International School Jammu bagged the first position and was
awarded with the Winner's Trophy, GD Goenka Jammu and Army Public School Kaluchak secured the second and third position respectively.
Jammu Sanskriti School Jammu, JK Public School Kunjwani and DBN Amarvilla Talab Tillo got consolation prizes.
The Chief Guest and the jury members handed over the trophies and certificates to the winning school and the participants respectively.
The event concluded by singing the National Anthem.
