MCA Anantnag seizes 02 Quintals of single use plastic in District

ANANTNAG: In a move to save environment from the menace of plastic pollution, a team of Municipal Committee Anantnag under the supervision of CEO MCA and Tehsildar Anantnag today on routine basis while checking the market seized near about two quintals of single use plastic from a shopkeeper namely Sazar Ahmad Itoo at Ganjiwara market.

The AMC started imposing heavy fines on the shopkeepers selling the single-use plastic and end users.

To implement the guidelines in letter and spirit, the AMC has decided to impose fines on all users, including retailers, restaurants, and end consumers. Traders, hoteliers, and restaurateurs in the city claimed they had already stopped using such plastic.

CEO MCA while speaking on the occasion said that the District Administration has conducted various awareness campaigns and drives against the ill effects of the polythene and the public is requested to say no to polythene to make the district plastic free and environment neat and clean.
