GCET Jammu organises cleanliness drive under Clean India Campaign 2.0

JAMMU: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology Jammu started a massive cleanliness drive in and around the college campus under the aegis of Clean India Campaign 2.0, an initiative of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The drive was started under the patronage of principal Prof. (Dr) Sameru Sharma.
While interacting with the students and NSS volunteers, she said that with the help of cleanliness, we can keep our physical and mental health clean which will make us feel good. Cleanliness gives rise to a good character by keeping body, mind and soul clean and peaceful. It also brings good and positive thoughts in the mind which slows down the occurrence of diseases.
The drive started from the college hostel and afterwards they cleaned the campus grounds, lawns, classrooms, labs and parking areas.
The students and volunteers collected around 90 kg of solid dry waste including plastic and polythene. The students and volunteers also took pledge that they would keep the campus clean and also aware the others to carry out such activities.
The hostel warden also applauded the NSS volunteers for remarkably using their talent and skill in performing high quality social work.
The others who were present during the drive included Prof. Anita Brar (Coordinator Ist Year), Dr. Heera Saini, Altaf Ahmad (Hostel warden), Dr. Rajinder Singh and Er. Atit Sharma. Dr. Raman Gupta, NSS Programme Officer also extended special thanks to the principal who always encouraged and inspire the volunteers for organising such kind of drives in the campus.
