RDD organises PRI Conference at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: A conference of senior officials of District Administration Anantnag and Representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions was held today at Dak Bungalow, here to discuss the activities being undertaken under Swachta Abhiyan.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that sanitation is an important aspect of development and the administration is striving to ensure that necessary solid/ liquid waste management facilities are available for scientific disposal of waste.

He said that sensitization regarding waste segregation is being done in Panchayats and dustbins are also being distributed. He said that PRIs have an important role to play in ensuring that people are made aware about sanitation measures. He said that PRIs should play an active role and lead by example to ensure a Swach Anantnag.

Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Anantnag, MY Gorsi said that the PRIs will extend all necessary cooperation to the administration in this endeavor. He said that Panchayats scheduled to be held in the month of October for framing of development plans will also include dissemination of information among the people about Swachta.

The meeting was attended by DDC members, ACD, BDC chairpersons, BDOs and Sarpanches and Panches among others.
