Director AH Jammu reviews performance of department in districts

Calls for meeting physical, financial targets for year 2022-23 in time

JAMMU: Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu, Dr. Shubhra Sharma today chaired a review meeting of the districts at Conference hall of Directorate of Animal HusbandryTalabTillo.

In the marathon meeting, the Director had a detailed review of different developmental initiatives in poultry and dairy sectors.

Reviewing the poultry sector performance vis a vis revenue realization, it was impressed upon the district officers to take steps to strengthen the Hatcheries in different districts to give impetus to breed improvement as well as entrepreneurship development in the poultry sector. It was further directed that Detailed Project Reports in this regard be submitted within one week.

For physical infrastructure of the departmental offices in Jammu division, proposals were sought from concerned officers regarding necessary repairs and renovations wherever required for further apprising the higher authorities accordingly.

During the course of the meeting, the chair was informed about Liquid Nitrogen plant being restored in district Rajouri to augment the supply of the same which is critical to the success of Artificial Insemination programmes in the region.

In this regard, the chair directed Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Rajouri to ensure timely completion as well as functioning of the plant. Further, the CAHO Udhampur and CAHO Doda were also directed to initiate efforts for making such plants functional in their districts in a time bound manner.

Taking stock of the Lumpy Skin disease situation in the Jammu division, the Director exhorted upon all the officers to gear up the field vaccinations against the disease to control the spread of the disease to unaffected areas.

Further, the chair directed all the district officers to closely monitor the working of Rapid Response Teams constituted to tackle the spread of the disease.

A threadbare discussion was held on various important schemes and the concerned officers apprised the chair about the progress made in the implementation of the schemes like Nationwide Artificial Insemination Programme, National Animal Disease Control Programme, National Livestock Mission, Integrated Poultry Development Programme and Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund.

The meeting, among others, was attended by CEO Livestock Development Board Jammu, Dr. Tariq Parvez, All Joint Directors, Dy. Director (AH), Dy. Director Planning & Statistics, All Chief Animal Husbandry officers, Accounts Officer, Directorate of Animal Husbandry Jammu and officers from the Technical section and Publicity wing of the Directorate.
