ACS Home, DGP preside over ‘Thana Diwas’ in Shopian

SHOPIAN: Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Home Department J&K, R K Goyal along with Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Dilbag Singh on Thursday presided over ‘Thana Diwas' function organized at Zainapora Police Station in District Shopian.

In his address, R K Goyal said that ‘Thana Diwas' is an initiative taken under the directions of Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to extend Police services to the people of J&K. Thana Diwas is a medium to come more close to the general people, he said, adding, since its launch it has been organized in all the districts of UT continuously this year.

He said that Nasha Mukti Abhiyan is going on to eradicate the drug menace as well to aware people especially youth against the ill effects of drugs. "We have to take action against all those involved in drug peddling and its trade," he added. On the occasion, Goyal listened the issues raised by the people and assured to look into them.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said some elements are disturbed by witnessing growing peace in J&K and are making attempts to disturb it. He said besides J&K Police, and other security forces, it's the responsibility of the people to consolidate this peace further. He said that across the border terrorist training camps/ launch pads are still active. Infiltration attempts were made from LoC and IB, J&K Police and security forces have tracked down many of these infiltrators, he added.
