Awareness programme on Drug Abuse held at GDC Khansahib

BUDGAM: The Psychological Counseling Cell & NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College (GDC) Khansahib in collaboration with the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) - ASYM - District Hospital Budgam today organised an Awareness Programme on ‘Drug Abuse', here.

The event began with a welcome address presented by college Principal Dr. Nargis Bano. She thanked officials from the health department for volunteering to co-organise the programme with the college.

In her address, she highlighted the role of educational institutions in coping-up with the menace of drug addiction.

After her address, students took pledge as mandated under ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' which was administered by the NSS Officer Dr. Sajad Ahmad Padder.

Dr. Insha Rouf, Consultant Psychiatry District Hospital Budgam detailed out the phases of drug-addiction and treatment measures. She laid emphasis on moral education in order to bring our youth on the right track.

Similarly, Dr. Nashwa Rehmani, Medical Officer ATF highlighted the circumstances leading to potential drug abuse, signs and symptoms of a drug abuser and common substances of abuse available in J&K.

Syed Sabreena, counselor at ATF, conducted an interactive session with the participants.
