DD launches ‘Swaraj’ to remember unsung heroes of freedom struggle

JAMMU: Doordarshan has launched serial ‘Swaraj- Bharat Ke Swatantrata Sangram Ki Samagra Gatha' along with the serials ‘Jai Bharati', ‘Corporate Sarpanch' and ‘Yeh Dil Mange More' with messages of patriotism and women empowerment and these serials will be telecasted at prime time on DD National from Monday to Friday which has started from August 15, 2022.
Addressing a press conference here, Additional Director General (ADG), Press Information Bureau & Central Bureau of Communication, Northern Region, Rajinder Chaudhry said that ‘Swaraj' is envisioned as the iconic serial of Doordarshan which will turn into a national movement inspiring public especially the youth about India's rich history and fill every Indian's heart with pride.
He informed that another serial ‘Suron Ka Eklavya' has high entertainment value as a reality music show and pays tribute to Bappi Lahiri will be telecasted on Saturday and Sunday at prime time 8 to 9 pm from August 14, 2022.
Chaudhry also informed that a show focusing on startups is also coming up on DD News and DD National.
He said that ‘Startup Champions 2.0' showcases journey of success of 46 national award winning start-ups and it is being telecast on DD News on Saturdays at 9 pm and on Sunday on DD National at 12 noon.
"It is a very interesting depiction of how the entrepreneurial culture is growing in the country. The English version of this show will be on DD India every Saturday at 10 pm," he further said.
ADG PIB Chaudhry said that purpose of ‘Swaraj' serial is to bring a sense of pride among the countrymen so that the nation is able to fulfill the objectives of ‘Swaraj' which will be the biggest achievement of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
He said that ‘Swaraj' series will be the greatest tribute to unsung heroes of our freedom struggle and will make the countrymen conscious about their contributions during the freedom movement of India.
The ADG emphasized on media to create enthusiasm among countrymen to watch ‘Swaraj' and help revive the era of 90's when people eagerly waited for fresh episodes to air every week.
"The historical series, ‘Swaraj' is a 75 episodes mega show illustrating the glorious history of India's freedom struggle from the 15th century onwards. This serial will bring to life several aspects of Indian history while featuring the lives and sacrifices of lesser known heroes. The popular film actor, Manoj Joshi, plays a stellar role as the narrator of the serial," he maintained.
"In 75th year of India's Independence, when the nation is celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' under the leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Doordarshan is also undergoing a major revamp based on the theme of ‘Naye Bharat Ka Naya Doordarshan' with the launch of a number of new high quality serials fulfilling its mandate as the Public Service Broadcaster of India," the ADG said.
