UIET organises 2 Day Workshop on Virtual Labs in collaboration with IIT Roorkee

JAMMU: University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) organized a two-day workshop on Virtual Labs in collaboration with IIT Roorkee for the students and faculty of UIET under the patronage of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.

The training program was conducted by Er. Sandeep Raj-Nodal Coordinator of Virtual Labs from UIET and the resource persons were Chetan and Jasbir Singh, Project Associates from IIT Roorkee.

The workshop's objective was to familiarize the students with the learning management system including various tools of learning, web resources, animated demonstrations and self-evaluation besides imparting hands-on training to students through Virtual Labs which enable them to perform any experiment on their mobiles and laptops.

The participants and resource persons were welcomed by Er.SushantGagalwho gave an overview of the program.

The training session started with the introduction of Virtual labs which is an initiative of the Ministry of Education under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology and it was followed by experimental demonstration for Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and electronics & Communication Engineering.

Resource persons discussed ways to transform teaching using virtual labs and explained how virtual labs could be effective for students and faculty members.

The students from UIET and Kathua campus were trained to use Virtual labs to perform various experiments in different disciplines of engineering and also how to create new experiments and upload on the virtual labs portal.

On this occasion, Prof. Susheel Kumar Sharma, Coordinator UIETremarked that online education has witnessed a significant transformation during the past few years in terms of learning methods and techniques.He underscored the usefulness of this workshop which would empower both students and faculty to adopt effective teaching-learning process.

He thanked the Rector, Kathua campus, Dr Meenakshi Kilam for providing support in the successful conduct of the workshop.

The formal vote of thanks was presented by Er. KomalKhadotra.She expressed her gratitude to the guest experts and all participants for making the event a grand success.

The workshop was attended by Pankaj Khajuria (AR),Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Amit Sharma, Er. RakshitKhajuria, Er. Sarvdaman Sharma, Er. RajanVermaand other faculty members of UIET and KathuaCampus.
