Media students from JU secures 1st and 2nd position in singing and reel-making

JAMMU: Bharti Thakur and Rohan Kumar brought laurels to the department of Journalism and Media studies of Jammu University by winning the first position in singing and second position in reel-making competition as part of youth festival ‘Media Manch' organised by the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in collaboration with the J&K Department of Information and Public Relations here recently.

Cash prizes were also announced during the event.

More than 100 students from across Jammu and Kashmir participated in the youth fest. Around 29 entries were sent for an online reel-making contest. The theme was to depict local culture and issues.

The event was inaugurated by Namrata Dogra, Joint Director, Directorate of Information and Public Relations, J&K, Director-General of IIMC, Prof Sanjay Dwivedi and Regional Director IIMC Jammu, Prof Rakesh Kumar Goswami.

To provide a platform for the youth of Jammu to showcase their talent, the day-long festival had several online and offline events, including photography, reel-making, poetry, singing and dancing. Students from the Journalism and Media Studies department of Jammu University took part in photography, reel making, dancing and singing.

Prof Ashok Aima, former Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu awarded the winners of off-line contests during the valedictory session.

The convenor of the event, Dr Vinit Utpal, Assistant Professor, IIMC, Jammu, Prof Dilip Kumar, Associate Professor and Sanjit Khajuria, Assistant Professor, were also present there.
