GCET Jammu Organizes Awareness Rally On “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

JAMMU: The NSS unit of Govt. College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu today organized an awareness rally on the theme "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'' an initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development under the banner of Azadi ka Amrut Mohotsav- Celebrations of 75 years of India's Independence.
The rally was flagged off by Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma. In her address, she said that the objectives of this initiative are prevention of gender biased sex selective elimination, ensuring survival & protection of the girl child and ensuring education and participation of the girl child in every sphere. With the help of this awareness programme, we can change the attitude and perspective of people.
The rally started from the campus premises and culminated in the nearby village. More than 30 students participated in the rally. The volunteers aware the people that girls should born, nurtured and educated without discrimination to become empowered citizens of this country with equal rights.
The whole event was organised by NSS volunteers Mandeep Singh, Sunidhi Sharma, Nikansh Panotra, Mohd. Sami, Jaanvi Sharma, Rakshant Balotra and Jashan Bali under the guidance of NSS Programme Officer Dr. Raman Gupta. He said that the importance of the event increases, even more, when we see a change in society. It is important because it educates people and makes them aware about the girl child.
The faculty members who were also present included Dr. Neerupma, Dr. Rajinder Singh and Er. Ateet Sharma.
The Principal of the College applauded and congratulated the team NSS for organizing such kind of awareness programmes.
