Three-Day Workshop commences at JU

JAMMU: The three-day workshop on the topic 'Media in Visual Arts' was today inaugurated by the legendary artist Padam Shri Rajinder Tikku in the institute of Music and Fine Arts.

The workshop is being organized by the Department of painting Institute of Music and Fine Arts, University of Jammu.

The reputed Artist BushanKesar was the Guest of Honour on the occasion while Prof. Sanjay Sharma, department of Environment Science was a special Guest.

The three-day workshop is being conducted by National awardee Abhijeet Pathak from Delhi who is known for large-scale mixed media abstract art.

Speaking in the inaugural function RajinderTikku lauded the efforts of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts for organizing a workshop on a vital topic. He said that new media in visual Arts is a modern term of Art.

The students are enough lucky to have Abhijeet Pathak as a resource person. He described Abhijeet Pathak as an artist par excellence, who use diverse material including charcoal, pigments, cloths, wood, sand, metal among many others.

His works are inspired by his surroundings, the people, the spaces, urban, rural, the environment, Mysticism, and other suitable influences including music and sound. He said that the Institute of Music and Fine Arts has produced the artist of international repute, therefore, special attention should be given to the premier institution.

Abhijeet Pathak the resource person of the workshop displayed some of his work on the occasion. Mostly the sketches he has made in Banaras, Delhi, and other parts of India. He also discusses the importance of these workshops in visual art. His work was appreciated by the audience.

Dr. Milan Sharma, HOD Painting organize the whole event while Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal Institute of Music and Fine Arts in his welcome address informed the audience about the activities taken by the institute of Music and Fine Arts in the future.

He said that recently Khatak Dance workshop was organized at Rajouri. In near future, another workshop is being organized at Reasi. 

A Table workshop is being organized by the Institute of Music and Fine Arts on the 17th of December. Besides a National, Level Painting camp will be organized on December 22nd.

He discusses the rich cultural past of institute of Music and Fine Arts and said that art and is a great treasure that should be not only promoted but also be preserved and the institute of Music and Fine Arts is taking all possible steps about this treasure.

Near about 50 participants are participating in the three-day workshop. Besides Faculty members and students of different departments of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts attended the inaugural function.
