J&K's Janta Ki Bhagidari Initiatives praised in NeGD MietY Event

NEW DELHI: In an Azadi ka Digital Mahotsav week-long event organised by National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MietY), Government of India which began today In New Delhi wherein IT Secretaries of different states/Union Territories made presentations on innovative IT initiatives taken respectively.
Amit Sharma, Secretary IT J&K and CEO, JaKeGA made a special presentation about few important IT driven success stories, popularity known as Janta ki Bhagidari which got accolades at all levels during the States' Presentation Session.
Amit Sharma presented Janta ki Bhagidari initiatives in J&K primarily driven by the launch of BEAMS (Budget Estimation Allocation and Monitoring System) followed by launch of Empowerment Dashboard in J&K wherein public has been direct access to see and monitor ongoing works upto the village and panchayat level in all 20 districts.
This, being the brainchild of Chief Secretary J&K Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, who had conceived, conceptualised and got its execution done successfully during his last tenure as Financial Commissioner, Finance to put all this critic data in public domain with the objective of bringing total transparency in the working of Finance Department.
This Bhagidari is a two-way communication as it helps in receiving public feedback so that corrective measures can be taken wherein required while implementing works of different departments all across the UT.
Secretary IT Amit Sharma also shared Awaam ki Awaz initiative which is another perfect example of Janta ki Bhagidari in J&K UT wherein the highest authority of Union Territory, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addresses the public through Radio and DD Kashir in a 30-minute episode touching important areas of public interest after taking feedback on topics from them through multiple IT-enabled social media channels and later, he shares the perspectives and policies of the Government related to them.
JaKeGA is the executing Agency in this behalf wherein a special team has been hired to exclusively look after this popular Project.
Finally, Amit Sharma mentioned great about successful implementation of e-Office initiative of IT Department in J&K as it has helped in making Government department's paperless and now, all Government business inside Secretariat is taking place on this platform.
Secretary IT mentioned that the ultimate goal is to take e-Office functioning to all the outside offices of the UT and there is a strong will of the Civil Administration towards achieving this goal at the earliest.
Union IT Secretary and CEO, NeGD Abhishek Singh alongwith august gathering praised these novel initiatives of UT administration taken with the lead role of IT Department in them and they assured extending all support in terms of strengthening State e-Mission Team (SeMT) for undertaking more such Projects in the UT in times to come.
Moreover, on request of IT Secretary J&K, they agreed to organise such high scale programme in the UT of J&K under the aegis of MietY soon in the near future.
