Poonch gunfight: Killed Lashkar terrorist's body retrieved

POONCH: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said body of a Pakistani Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist has been retrieved from the ongoing gunfight site in the Mendhar forest area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir as the encounter between security forces and heavily-armed terrorists entered Day 14.
The police spokesman said for subsequent operation at Bhata Durian forest additional reinforcements were sent and the dead body of Zia Mustafa was retrieved from the encounter site. "Operation is in progress. Legal process has been initiated," said the spokesman.
Earlier police said two of its personnel, one Army jawan and a detained terrorist suffered injuries at Bhata Durian gunfight site in the Mendhar forests.
The detained terrorist was Mustafa, who was taken to Bhata Durian to identify terror hideout as the gunfight completed a fortnight.
"Detenue Zia Mustafa, a Pakistani terrorist of LeT was taken to Bhata Durian for identification of terrorist hideout during the ongoing operation in which three army jawans and a JCO were killed," police spokesman said earlier.
He said that during the search operation, when the team approached the hideout, terrorists again opened fire on the joint team of police and army personnel in which two policemen and an army jawan sustained injuries.
Zia Mustafa also sustained injuries and he could not be extracted from the site due to heavy firing, said the spokesman. "Injured personnel are under treatment at the nearby health facility," he said.
The encounter first started on October 11 between the group of heavily armed terrorists and the security forces in which so far nine soldiers including two Junior Commissioned Officers have been martyres.
