GDC Basohli organised lecture to commemorate "World Ozone Day"

KATHUA: To celebrate "World Ozone Day", the Department of Botany, Government Degree College, Basohli organized a lecture on the theme "Montreal Protocol, keeping us, our vaccines and food cool" under the auspices of IQAC.
The event was systematized under the patronage of Dr. Nidhi Kotwal, Principal, GDC, Basohli and convened by Prof. Sanjeev Gupta, Convener, IQAC and HoD Botany.
In the welcome address, Dr. Shiv Kumar, organizing secretary, briefed the importance and history of World Ozone Day and introduced the event.
Prof. Sanjeev Gupta was the resource person and delivered a lecture on the topic "World Ozone Day, Montreal Protocol, keeping us, our vaccines and food cool". He discussed in detail about Kigali and Paris agreement, UN Sustainable development goals, achievements of the Montreal Protocol and cold chain concept including the continuity of vaccine cold chain. He also talked about various challenges in the way of implementation of protocols and cited a few of the alternatives.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session in which related queries and issues were discussed and addressed properly. In her concluding remarks, the college Principal appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for organizing such an informative lecture and also applauded the contribution of everyone.
The lecture was attended by college students and faculty members.
The program culminated with the formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Shiv to the patron, convener and students.
