DC Rajouri briefs media on COVID19 mitigation efforts in the district

70 % above 45 population inoculated; Round the clock Covid care services being provided in PCCs

RAJOURI: "The District is recording continuous decline in positivity rate and the situation is also gradually improving, however people need to follow all SOPs religiously to keep Covid at bay", said the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan while speaking at a press conference on COVID 19 situation in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner said, "The positivity rate has dropped to 2.8 percent and a remarkable increase in recovery rate has also been observed which is near about 90 percent as of now. There are 82 containment zones in the district."

With regard to vaccination, the Deputy Commissioner said that 70 percent of the population above the 45 year age stands vaccinated, and a slew of measures have been taken by District Administration to achieve the target of 100 percent vaccination of this age group.

Regarding the medical oxygen supply, the Deputy Commissioner informed that an oxygen concentrator plant of 2250 LPM capacity is functional in GMC&AH, while the work on the installation of an additional oxygen concentrator plant of 750 LPM capacity has also been started and there is no dearth of medical oxygen supply in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that round the clock service is being made available in the rural Covid care centres.

"The people in rural areas who don't have much space at their residence have started keeping themselves isolated voluntarily in the PCCs which is a very good thing and will help keep further check on the transmission of the infection" he added.

About the unlock measures, he said all the developmental activities are being carried out in a staggered manner in the district in strict adherence to SoPS.

The Deputy Commissioner urged upon the shopkeepers in the market to open their business establishments on odd even basis as per the guidelines issued by the District Administration and warned of strict action as per norms on breaching the SOPs.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the NGOs, Volunteers and social organisations are doing a commendable job in mitigating the pandemic in the district and urged upon them to keep working with the same zeal to help the District Administration counter the pandemic in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the public to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Government for appropriate COVID-19 pandemic behaviour to break the highly infectious chain.
