Govt failed to control corona: Harsh Dev
May 02, 2021
JAMMU: Accusing the ruling party at the Centre of persistently indulging in self adulation, self praise and self celebration rather than taking appropriate measures during the past 15 months to protect the citizens from deadly Corona virus, Harsh Dev Singh chairman-JKNPP and former Minister has squarely held the Central Government responsible for the catastrophe that the nation is confronted with today.
With nearly four lakh new infections around 5,000 deaths being recorded everyday in the country, the situation has literally and figuratively gone out of control. Sadly, India has become the country with highest number of infections per day in the international arena. A sense of deep anguish, unending and unquantifiable grief has overtaken the nation with thousands succumbing to the ferocity of the deadly pandemic. "How many died today' is the most frequently asked question day after day thus indicating the hopelessness and helplessness that has engulfed the citizens. Is it not the collapse of our system as nothing is more tragic than an avoidable death'', he asked?.
"Does it not indicate the failure of those indulging in incessant chest thumping and giving slogans of New India., Do our rulers not owe an explanation to the people of the country who catapulted them to power under the belief that they would usher an era of ‘Achhe Din' and good governance as assured by them'', questioned Singh. He was holding a dharna against failure of the Government in preventing the naked dance of death in the country due to uncontrolled pandemic.
Reminiscing the reaction of the Centre Government towards Corona in early 2020, Singh said that it paralyzed rather traumatized the country ordering brutal confinement, persistent lockdowns, abandoning the migrant labourers without taking effective measures to fight the gravity of the deadly virus. While other countries worked overnight for strengthening their respective health institutions and related infrastructure, setting up Oxygen plants, new hospitals and augmentation of existing health facilities, Modi was indulging in "Taali bajao, Thali bajao" campaigns. Shortly thereafter, he started exporting oxygen, Hydrochloroquine, ventilators and other medical equipments needed by pandemic affected patients loudly proclaiming that he was giving the ‘corona mantra' to the world.
He further started offering and exporting millions of doses of vaccines to other countries in January, 2021 declaring that it produced more than sufficient for its population to be protected. And three months later, the Modi's mantra proved to be a nightmare for his own people, he added.
