THANNAMANDI: In continuation with the efforts to foster peace, communal harmony and prosperity in the region, Army organised Amity Meeting at Thanamandi in District Rajouri (J&K).
Participation of a large number of locals from all communities itself was an indication of social harmony existing in the area. Interaction with members of the society helped in identifying day to day problems being faced by the populace and specific areas where Indian Army could assist them.
The amity meeting was a step towards a progressive and continuous interaction of the Army with Civil Society. These interactions serve as a platform for locals to air their grievances.
A number of measures have been instituted to resolve the grievances which include initiating Sadbhavana projects, skill development courses, training youth for Army recruitment, running coaching classes and projecting the grievances of Awaam to the appropriate authorities in civil administration.
Medical checkup of attendees was also carried out during the meet. The locals expressed their desire that such meetings must be conducted regularly to maintain the bonhomie between Awaam and Army. The meeting was attended by 40 locals.
