International Women's Day celebrated at Neeli Nallah Udhampur

JAMMU: Department of Sociology, Government Degree College Neeli Nallah Udhampur, organized Online Lecture on the occasion of "International Women's Day".
The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur, Principal, GDC Neeli Nallah, Udhampur.
The theme of the lecture was "Women Empowerment: Opportunities and Challenges".
Dr. Anil Kumar, Assistant Professor of Sociology, School of Legal Studies, Central University Kashmir was the speaker of the event. The event was started with a welcome note by Prof. Swati Dutt, Assistant Professor in Sociology.
The programme was followed with formal address by Prof. Satinder Kaur. She stressed on the fact that now-a-days women are playing roles as same as men do. She also emphasized that the women of 21st century are equally competent to men.
Further, Dr. Anil Kumar, speaker of the event, initiated his lecture on women empowerment through issues of gender inequality while stressing the opportunities of women in different institutional fields of society. Women have been contributing, and they have the potential to innovate, but the only lacking thing is perhaps the opportunity. Society needs to recognize this fact. Resthe also quoted some examples which clearly depicts that ‘one is not born, but rather becomes a woman'.
The lecture was attended by the faculty members and students of various Degree Colleges. The lecture was concluded with formal vote of thanks by Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur.
After the lecture, the students of the college presented a skit which depicts the condition of the women in present society. The skit was written and prepared by Dr. Radha Rani, Assistant Professor, Dogri and Dr. Tsering Dorjey, Lecturer, Political Science. Prof. Swati Dutt was the convener of the event.
The organizers of the event were Dr. Kamaldeep Kaur, Dr. Radha Rani, Dr. Tsering Dorjey and Dr. Javaid Manzoor. Others whoparticipated in the event were Dr. Fayaz Ahmed Kumar, Schweta Rani and Mohd Jahangir Khan.
