Army conducts stitching, tailoring course for women

RAJOURI: With an aim towards imparting skills and creating job opportunity for women, the Army conducted a one month "Stitching and Tailoring" accredited course for 20 women at Swarikote in District Rajouri (J&K) under Sadbhavana. Closing ceremony of stitching and tailoring course was held at Swarikote, Phardala, Rajouri on culmination of the subject course.
The course imparted skills related to basic stitching and tailoring course to unemployed women belonging from remote areas of Swarikote, Phardala and nearby villages. The course is certified by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Women showed keen interest to learn and displayed great capability for self employment in future. The Army aligned to the initiatives of State and Central Government has focused on conduct of accredited courses with proper certification which shall help them to optimally utilise the opportunities offered.
Naseem Akhtar, Sarpanch of Swarikote and Phardala addressed the participants and distributed stitching machine during the closing ceremony.
A total of 20 women were awarded with NSDC certificate. Locals and key personalities appreciated the efforts of Indian Army for women empowerment.
