Placement Cell, JU organized Online 'Resume Writing Session'

JAMMU: Placement cell, University of Jammu in its endeavour has been organising various training related activities including web lecture series on Career Planning. 

In line with this, today the cell organized a special online session on 'Resume Writing' to further enrich the student fraternity. The session was planned to make the students market ready and to make them more professional in their approach.

The session was organised under the patronage of Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.

The Vice Chancellor in his message appreciated the efforts of Placement Cell in their endeavour to organise various functions, which will go a long way in sensitizing the students about the various career paths, which they can undertake to achieve success in their life.

Prof. Manoj K. Dhar also appreciated the effort of the Placement Cell for engaging students during the time of COVID-19.

While addressing the students Prof Vinay Chauhan, Dean Student Placement, pointed out that due to the pressure of job hunt, students at times neglect to focus on their resume. He emphasised that a good resume goes a long way and must be seen as tool for make a favourable impression on the prospective employer.

The resource person for the session was Ankit Sharma, proud alumnus of NIT Jamshedpur and IIM Nagpur and having experience as Investment Banking Analyst, Social Media Manager and Customer Experience Manager. In addition, he is acting as a Mentor with "Ace Your Campus", which is a team of IIM graduates imparting training to young graduates for their placements through personalized mentoring.

They have conducted training workshops for leading educational institutes that include IIM Nagpur, IIM Boghgaya, MDI Gurgaon, BITS Pilani and many more.

While interacting with the students he discussed the importance of effective Resume writing, resume shortlisting process followed by recruiters, importance of ATS (Application Tracking System) compatible resumes, various sections of a resume and their elements.

The session was attended by close to 100 students from various departments of the university.

Dr. Shelleka Gupta, Secretary of the session moderated and hosted the event including the Q&A session, wherein all the queries raised by the students were addressed by the expert.

Members of the Placement cell- Dr. Amisha Gupta, Dr. Shubhnandan S. Jamwal, Dr. Sikander Pal, Dr. Raj Sandhu, Shilpa Handoo and Virender were present during the session.
