World Philosophy Day celebrated in SMVDU

KATRA: The School of Philosophy & Culture of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, celebrated World Philosophy Day.
Prof. R.S. Misra, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, SMVDU, was the special invitee on the day. On this occasion, the School organized a discussion on the ideas of Socrates' grand disciple Aristotle (c. 384-322 BCE). Dr. Anil Tewari, Head of the School, welcomed all the invitees and participants.
The discussion was initiated by Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Asst. Prof., School of Philosophy & Culture. The participants of the discussion included Prof. Misra, Dr. Tewari, Dr. M.M. Chaturvedi, Dr. Simran Raina, and a B. Tech student Sagun Gupta.
The other participants belonged to various Schools of the University.
It is conspicuous that in the Year 2002, the UNESCO declared that every 3rd Thursday of November month be celebrated as World Philosophy Day.
The day is speculative birth anniversary of the Greek philosopher Socrates (c. 470 - 399 BCE). The event concluded with a vote of thanks.
