GDC Nowshera hosts series of online activities to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti

NOWSHERA: To mark the 150th birth anniversary of the "Father of the Nation", Gandhi Ji; Red Ribbon Club of GDC Nowshera has organized various online and other activities during the last one week.
The college hosted Inter-college Quiz competition based on "Gandhi Ji, a freedom fighter" on Sept 25 and Inter-college Essay writing competition on "Teachings of Mahatma Gandhi" on September 28, while a Plantation and Cleanliness drive was held on September 27 and September 28 respectively.
A large number of students from different institutions participated in the online contests.
In the quiz competition, Sakshi Sharma of Central University of Jammu claimed first position, while the Second place was shared by Kajal Sudan from GDC Nowshera and Kanika Andotra from SVS Degree College Rajouri and the third position was shared by 8 students from different colleges.
In the Essay writing competition, Amisha Sharma of GCW Gandhinagar secured first position, Rohit Sharma of University of Jammu stood second and the third position was claimed by Sakshi Sharma of Central University of Jammu. E- certificates were given to the toppers.
The students/RRC volunteers participated in Plantation drive and planted saplings at their homes and neighbourhood. During the Cleanliness drive, the whole college campus was cleaned including the classrooms, laboratories and library. Besides, the college surroundings were also cleaned as Gandhiji believed that Cleanliness is next to Godliness".
All these activities were organized by Pooja Devi, Nodal Officer, Red Ribbon Club.
Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college, appreciated the efforts made by the staff and students in organizing these activities and advised them to follow the path of peace and non- violence as shown by Gandhi Ji.
