GDC Nowshera hosts online quiz on Gurmukhi Lippi

RAJOURI: The Department of Punjabi, Government Degree College, Nowshera organized an online quiz on Topic "Gurmukhi Lippi, Its Origin and Development",.
The quiz competition was aimed to spread awareness among students about the centuries years Old Gurmukhi Lippi and to raise student's interest in this script.
The Gurmukhi script is generally believed to have roots in the proto-sinatic alphabet by the way of Brahmi script, which develops further into the Northwestern group Sharda, and its descendants, including Landa and Takri.
A large number of students from various colleges participated in the event in which first position was secured by Amandeep Kour, student of Government College for Women Baramulla, second position was secured by Sukhvinder Singh, the student of Government Degree College Nowshera, where as the third position was bagged by Avneet Kour, student of Government Degree College Poonch.
Dr. Harbhajan Singh (H.O.D Punjabi) was the coordinator of this quiz competition and S. Gurjeet Singh Assistant Professor Punjabi was the Member of organizing Committee. The participants were duly facilitated with e-certificates by the college.
The quiz competition was organized under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal G.D.C Nowshera, who encouraged the faculty members to organize such more events for the benefit of student community.
