International Plastic Bag Free day Celebrated at GGZSM Degree College Reasi

JAMMU: Plastic bags are a threat to our ecosystem. It's time to create an awareness about ill-effects of Plastic Bags. The International Plastic Bag Free Day is celebrated to spread the message to the world that a plastic bag free world is possible and it can be replaced with biodegradable bags.

The Department of Botany in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science, Govt. General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi (J&K) organized an inter college poster making competition on the theme "How to live plastic free" on the eve of The International Plastic Bag Free Day.

Many colleges of the UT participated in the event in which students sent posters on the theme via e-mail. Event was judged by Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Head, Depatment of Physics and Prof. Kewal Krishan, Head, Dept. of Mathematics. First position was bagged by Indu Sharma of GDC Nowshera and Priyanka Sharma of Govt. GZSM Degree College Reasi whereas second and third positions were bagged by Annania Sharma and Ashima Thakur of Govt.

GZSM Degree College Reasi. Merit certificates shall be issued to participants at three merit positions and participation certificates shall be issued to all the participants.

The event was organized by Dr. Anu Sharma, Head Department of Botany (Convener) and Dr. Anshu Gupta, Head department of Environmental Sciences (Co-convener) under the noble guidance of Principal Dr. Chander Shekhar Gupta, GGZSM College Reasi.
The college has left no stone unturned in this lockdown to involve its students in awareness activities even at home. College has created awareness amongst the students by organizing many online activities like yoga day, e- Mushaira, plantation drive etc.
