Gender Sensitisation workshop at JU

JAMMU: The Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu in continuation of the series of Gender Sensitization workshops, organized the next workshop for scholars and students of the P.G. Department of Psychology, University of Jammu.
Prof. Arti Bakhshi, Head, Department of Psychology welcomed the resource persons and the participants.
Prof. Vishav Raksha Director, Centre for Women's Studies, University of Jammu, introduced the theme of the Workshop and conducted the first session on the ‘Conceptual understanding of Gender and Gender role expectations'.
She conducted various activities regarding gender sensitization which involved all the students and they participated with great zeal and fervor.
The second session was conducted by Dr. Hema Gandotra, faculty member from Department of Sociology, who conducted a session on ‘The Third Gender' which is the most secluded and marginalized community of the society and also highlighted the issues and challenges faced by them.
The third resource person for the workshop was Dr. Bindu Sangra, faculty of The Law School, University of Jammu who spoke on the legal rights of the women and sensitized them about the various constitutional provisions and Acts for safeguard of women.
The students in their feedback expressed their satisfaction on the conduct of such workshops.The Certificates were also distributed among the participants.
Among others present were Prof. Arti Bakhshi, Dr.Chander Shekhar, Dr. Sarita Sood, Dr. Karuna and Dr. Darpan faculty members of Department of Psychology and Dr. Priyanka Katoch and Dr. Saranjit Kaur, faculty members of the Centre.
