GCW Gandhi Nagar organizes workshop

JAMMU: One Day Workshop on "Mental Health Issues in Youth and Challenges" was organized by Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu in collaboration with "Career Counselling Cell" Govt. P.G College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
In the inaugural session Prof. Anju Basin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu was the chief guest. Besides, Prof. Naresh Padha , Dean Research Studies/ Coordinator RUSA, JU, Danesh Rana, IPS, IGP Armed Jammu, Dr Ravender Tickoo, Nodal Principal Jammu, R.C.Kotwal, JKPS, SSP, APCR Jammu were present. Prof. Meeru Abrol, convener Career Counseling Cell formally welcomed the guests and Prof. Priyanka Sharma, Deptt. of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu gave a brief account of workshop being held under extension and curriculum reforms, RUSA phase-II programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. Anju Bhasin highlighted the key issues to be discussed in the technical sessions. She congratulated the team for organizing the workshop on the topic which is the need of the hour. Prof. Naresh padha gave a brief account of series of activities and events being conducted under RUSA by Jammu University under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj Dhar.
Danesh Rana, IPS a key resource person complimented the University and College authorities for envisaging the most relevant issues related to youth in the present era. He also highlighted how menace like addiction of drugs and alcohol are affecting the youth. Dr. Ravinder Tickoo, Nodal Principal Jammu and Principal of the host College welcomed the dignitaries. He stressed upon the need to make students aware of being stress free and healthy.
The resource persons for different sessions of workshop were Danesh Rana, IPS, R.C. Kotwal JKPS, Prof. Arti Bakshi, HOD Psychology, University of Jammu, Prof. Manish Koli (Dept. of Psychology, GCW, Gandhi Nagar), Anju Bansal (Director Global Skill Development organization), Prof. Priyanka Sharma (Dept of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu), Prof. Meeru Abrol (HOD Mathematics, GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu) Prof. Sugandha Mahajan (Dept of Botany, GCW, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu).
Throughout the sessions, resource persons deliberated upon the issues and challenges of Drug addiction and substance abuse, suicide and self injury, behavior and well being of youth and personal growth, time management, technology abuse, stress and anxiety and examination anxiety.
Each session was followed by interaction of resource persons with students. The students shared their views, experiences and cleared their doubts regarding the issues discussed.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Meeru Abrol, Prof. Priyanka Sharma and Prof Suganda Mahajan. At last, Prof. Ashu Vashisht presented the formal vote of thanks.
